About

Passionate about plumbing and with over 35 years in the trade and 30 years of owning and managing my own business, I am committed to and believe in the future of the industry. My time on the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainage Board and my involvement with over a dozen apprentices has enabled me to give back to an industry that has given me a good life.

Raised in a family on a Waihi farm, I learnt valuable lessons that laid the foundation for a successful career in the plumbing industry. I was taught that with the attitude of “a fair day’s work for a fair day’s pay” you can’t go wrong.

A natural ability to use my hands and skills learnt on the farm, made a career in the trades seem like a good choice. In 1977 I started a plumbing and drainage apprenticeship, completing my time in Tauranga in 1980. After a 3 year OE, I returned to New Zealand and spent 26 years running my own successful plumbing, roofing, drainage and solar heating business.

In February 2013 I shifted down to Christchurch to assist with the Rebuild where I worked as a Project Manager for Contractor’s who were working for EQC through EQR ( Fletchers ) as I was approached by a company looking for someone with years of experience in the building trade.

There was and still is a huge shortage of experienced trades people in Christchurch, it’s quite a concern and as a Certified Plumber, Drain Layer and Roofer with over 40 years in the industry I saw the results of the lack of experience and knowledge of different trades every day.

It’s amazing the wastage that is about these day’s because some tradesmen just don’t have the experience or knowledge how to repair an old tap or sanitary fixture, they simply replace with a new item that can be an unnecessary cost to the client.

If you have any questions at all, please contact me and I will be happy to assist.
